Telling yesterday stories just may not get you to where you need to go: Today, Tomorrow and Moving Forward.
First, because none of us are getting to where we thought we were going in a Yesterday as recent as January 2020. Next, if you did not adopt a strategy of continuous strategic re-evaluation and re-invention, chances are your business is compromised, today.
After all, your employees and clients are hardly static elements, “givens” for sustaining your business. Consider this. Your employees and clients may be more adaptable and ready for What’s Next, Today and Tomorrow than you are.
Hunkering down in yesterday stories will not sell you, your team, and your company in the New Normal. Time to re-calibrate.
A solid first step is taking a good hard look at the stories you tell yourself and your teams as you lead your company. Typically, those stories are part of corporate vision and mission statements. And, typically, these stories are located on your website, and posters on office walls and breakrooms.
Then, consider how you and your workforce embody these mission and vision statements, each day. If you fall short, then these story-statements are on your walls and website for show. Rather than as dynamic elements for building trust and retaining employees and clients.
Moving towards What’s Next stories moves mission and vision statements away from canned verbiage lifted from digital sites and print posters. You know, the stories which make you sound like everyone else. Stories no one really buys into.
Call me for a complementary discovery conversation. Let’s move you and your company one millimeter forward, beyond yesterday stories which do not sell you, your team, and your company: today.
Next, consider the impact of telling today’s stories, instead of yesterday stories, on employee and client retention.
When employees and clients feel part of a dynamic mission and vision, they become co-invested in each other’s success. On behalf of better serving clients, together. Ready to courageously take yesterday’s static mission and vision statements off the wall?
Consider the impact of walking your talk throughout the company, so everyone takes small, one millimeter steps forward. To get to where they need to go, together.
Creating a workplace and culture co-invested in What’s Next leverages employees actively committed to connecting their own stories to each other’s. Because what got you to where you were Yesterday, is a Yesterday story. Employees and clients will gravitate to companies they trust. Companies co-invested in getting them to where they need to go: today, tomorrow and moving forward.
