Are you busy delivering non-stop, one-way output to your team? If so, you may fall short of creating opportunities to impact, engage, inspire, take action, and innovate. Together.
When you target a cross-functional team leadership trajectory, professional success leverages more than delivering presentations during meetings.
As a result, acknowledging your comfort with your default delivery style becomes mission-critical to leading by example, cross-functionally. Are you ready to move one millimeter beyond what is professionally comfortable? Then contact me right here. Let’s get started on your professional tomorrow, today.
Perhaps you are unaware that you are more busy delivering than impacting.
First, consider that meetings are opportunities to do more than plough through your content. Otherwise, when you do so, attendees may not be able to hang onto your nuggets of insight. Mostly because you quickly move on to what you intend to deliver next.
Are you delivering jam-packed presentations with more information than people can digest?
Next, take the time to pause: for your sake and for attendees’ sanity. Come up for air: breathe. As you pause too, observe virtually and in person. Also, read and respond to comments in chat boxes. As a result, instead of being busy delivering your presentation, you have a real-time, personalized conversation with everyone.
Then, make sure your choice of terminology resounds with cross-functional attendees, especially when they are not your professional peers. While you may have them at “hello,” your impact may get lost in translation as attendees wrestle with the meaning of discipline-specific terminology. Are you assuming they “get” your meaning when, in fact, they don’t, at all?
Finally, instead of being busy delivering and lecturing, make intentionally innovative choices to change the impact of your delivery. So your words and actions become memorable, relevant, and valuable for everyone. For all the right reasons. 😉
