Your workplaces are more hybridized. And your hybridized workplaces call for a more hybridized team mindset to create tomorrow’s successful business outcomes.
Things in the workplace feel out of synch, don’t they? Some professionals to continue working virtually. Others prefer working solely in physical environments. And yet other colleagues rotate in and out of workplace scenarios based on set, but flexible, schedules. Plus, some colleagues move on to other gigs which provide a better professional and cultural fit for them. No one is quite in the same place they were prior to the pandemic.
Yet, while there is a palpable personnel shift in the workplace, that is not the only thing that feels out of sync. Some colleagues reskilled and upskilled during the past two years – and not necessarily within their professional disciplines. As a result, they cross-trained their brains, developing a more cross-functional perspective about value creation.
Consequently, the return to the new world of work mixes people who prefer more traditional and homogeneous team environments with those who are comfortable mixing the old with the new.
Defining the “new normal” involves creating a more hybridized team mindset.
How comfortable are you creating, leading and managing a more hybridized team mindset?
- First, will you encourage more or less homogeneity?
- Next, will you foster greater innovation, even if it makes you all feel uncomfortable?
- Then, can you expand your network of internal resources to fill in gaps in information?
Creating a more hybridized team mindset results in a more professionally diverse network of team resources. So everyone starts asking the right questions, the right way, to define and solve the right problems. Isn’t it time to focus on creating the type of updated, upskilled, and reskilled strategic business and human capital value colleagues, employers and clients need to move forward together: today, tomorrow and moving forward.
