Do you think of your legacy as a spreadsheet of jobs, assignments, projects, job titles, professional degrees, and certifications? Or is does your legacy also encompass your humanity, the endeavors you pursue beyond “what looks good” on that resume?

Regardless of your age or stage in your career path, you leave footprints on businesses you work with and colleagues you collaborate with. How are those footprints impacting the choices you make: today, tomorrow, and moving forward? Plus, how are your footprints impacting the choices your colleagues and clients make, moving forward?

Creating your professional legacy impacts not only what you will be remembered for. Your professional legacy impacts why people anticipate the quality of spending time with you, next time.

Your professional legacy is not only a reflection of the quantity of what you accomplish professionally. Rather, your professional legacy also is a function of how you change the world, one millimeter at a time.

Most of the time, you are not ready to take those small steps forward, so everyone gets to where they really need to go. However, you do take that first step forward, and then the next step.
