What is our next one millimeter forward together as we traverse towards 2023? How have your focus and perspective evolved?
Heading towards a new year together, I remain grateful for your readership, inspiration and support. I commenced blogging in 2009. Yet, during the last two years, my personal and professional perspective was profoundly impacted. How about you?
This summer, I reunited with professional colleagues whom I had not seen in several years, due to the global health climate. We reveled in how much “better” we looked in real-time and real-life. As we compared our “catch up” stories, we acknowledged our common denominator moving forward. We remain united by our experiences of some form of angst, anguish, and suffering over the past two years. Even if we tell one another that everything is fine and going well, it is not the same type of “fine” and “well” that existed “before”.
Since we last met, all of us traveled one Herculean millimeter forward. And now we find ourselves together, in a mutually shared emotional and physical space and place, right now. What has been your experience as you reunite with friends and colleagues?
Another common denominator my colleagues and I shared together is how much we continue to experience happiness and joy together. If anything, our happiness and joy barometers have expanded readings. We find ourselves reveling in the sounds of the outdoors or that cheeseburger and fries combo we have craved since I don’t know when. Family members pass on and new family members take their first baby steps and then run forward to meet life! What small joys now give you new, unique, novel, or renewed sources of happiness and joy?
We cherish our friends and family so much more than before, because we have experienced our transience. Do you feel the same way, as well?
Regardless of our chronological ages, as our life runways become shorter, we now give more serious consideration to individual and family legacy moving forward together. Thus, in addition to annual giving and charitable tax-deductible donations, we now become more actively and physically involved in local, state, regional, national, and global initiatives. I know I have been impacted by the evolving need for food equity through more self-sustaining, self-funded communities. What about you? What are the causes and concerns which fuel your personal and professional legacies moving forward?
As we move one millimeter forward together towards 2023, I wish each one of you a peaceful, mindful, thoughtful, and actionable 2023. My very best wishes to you all. ~ Babette
